Stéphane Bouchard, Ph.D., President

 

Stéphane Bouchard has been a psychologist since 1991 and specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and the use of technological tools in psychotherapy. He is a world-renowned expert in the clinical applications of virtual reality and heads up Cliniques & Développement In Virtuo. He has done research on the effectiveness of virtual reality in the treatment of several anxiety problems, including fear of spiders, heights, enclosed spaces and flying, as well as social anxiety and panic disorder with agoraphobia. His interests in the application of cybertherapy goes beyond the field of anxiety disorders and include PTSD, OCD, gambling addiction, eating disorders, pain management, neuropsychological assessment, etc.


Besides his functions at Cliniques & Développement In Virtuo, Dr. Bouchard teaches at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, where he is the co-director of the Cyberpsychology Lab at UQO and holds the Canada Research Chair in clinical cyberpsychology. As president of Cliniques & Développement In Virtuo, he supervises all of the establishment’s activities in the areas of both clinical practice and virtual reality software development. Through his research chair, he contributes to the promotion, in Canada and abroad, of the utility and effectiveness of virtual reality tools in psychology.

 

Geneviève Robillard, M.Sc., VP of corporate affairs

 

Geneviève Robillard received a Master’s Degree in Psychoeducation from the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) in 2002. At the university she became intrigued by the use of virtual reality combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat specific phobias. Since then, she she has been the Cyberpsychology Lab at UQO research coordinator, and she was awarded with the Prix d'excellence des professionnels et professionnelles de recherche au Québec from Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS 2017-2018) for her contribution in the field of mental health. At Cliniques & Développement In Virtuo, she is in charge of administrative management,  human resources and commercialization of In Virtuo products.

 

Serge Larouche, M.A., VP and Director of clinical operations

 

Mr. Larouche has over 25 years’ experience in psychotherapy and mental health problems in the Ottawa area, including over 15 years at the Anxiety Disorder Clinic for the Centre Hospitalier Pierre-Janet. His experience in cognitive-behavioral therapy sparked his interest in the clinical aspects of using virtual reality for adults suffering from anxiety disorders and in the development of appropriate treatment protocols. As a psychologist, Mr. Larouche supervises the entire clinical team.

Note : Cliniques et Développement In Virtuo is a company issued from a spin-off from the Canada Research Chair in Clinical Cyberpsychology at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO). The industrial innovations, discoveries and  expertise of In virtuo's team come from studies conducted in research and clinical trials. Thanks to Canada Research Chairs and other funds obtained by Dr Bouchard, it is also possible to participate in research projects and receive free therapies. Methodological contraints from those projects only allow this opportunity iif selection criterias are met.
